Appeal Process
1)County Assessor: This is the first level at which we can submit a complaint with evidence and a list of comparable properties. It is the most informal level, but many cases receive initial reductions here.
2) Board of Review: About 2 months after the assessor finishes his work in a township, there is a 30 day appeal period at the County Board of Review. This is the second level of appeals, and we take most of our cases to the board for both further and initial reduction consideration.
3) Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB): Following a hearing at the County Board of Review, we may file a subsequent appeal at the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB), within 30 days of the mailing of the Board Reviewer's decision. At this level evidence is presented and argues more formally;
OR:
3) Circuit/Appellate Court. ONLY ATTORNEYS AND TAXPAYERS THEMSELVES MAY FILE AT THESE LEVELS.
4) Supreme Court
